I am starting to pack. Slowly but surely, I'm clearing away 6 years of clutter and 29.5 years of hoarding. I call them my treasures, but really, does one really need a music box from the 1980s? I can't throw it out and probably won't.Side Tip: Don't pay for boxes! Work always has boxes, grocery stores have boxes, friends have boxes. If you receive boxes from people, pay it forward! It also helps the environment.
So this desk is very special to me. It has journeyed here all the way from Seaford. My dad made me this desk. Back in the 1990s bunk beds were a thing. I had to have one, so my dad made me one. It was well constructed and once installed, I never actually slept or did anything on the top bunk. After returning from college I still slept on that bed. It was heart breaking the day that the movers came to bring our stuff to Florida. They demolished my beautiful bed and literally tossed the pieces out the window to an awaiting dumpster.
On the other side of that bunk bed was this custom desk. At the very last moment, I decided to bring the desk with me to Florida and +75 pounds later the desk lives in my closet. The desk is small, too small for me to actually sit in, but aside from the height, it is bigger than my desk at work. The mica is in pristine condition because as you probably suspected, I never actually used it as a desk growing up. The cubbies at the top sort of became my museum and the desk itself was a storage facility. In fact, as it lives in my closet, it's more of a clothing holder.
To be honest, I am not even certain what is inside of those drawers. I may do an expose on the contents of those drawers. It's probably like opening a time capsule.
So what will happen to my desk? I think it will stay at my parent's house for now. I'd love to keep it for my own kid someday. It has such sentimental value. I don't think anyone would be willing to move this beast from it's current location to my new place, but I definitely do not want it to go into the trash. My love of dolphins is not a secret. I probably receive 5-10 dolphin related gifts a year. As I have been packing, I've encountered more and more dolphin statues that just live in various locations throughout my living quarters. I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to put all of them, but here is the collection just from my dresser. So, if you're thinking about giving me any sort of gift. I am good on the dolphin statues. I'm good on any sort of figurine or decorative sea life. (This doesn't even picture my dolphin stuff animals, but believe me when I say that they're there).
Does anyone have any tips for decorating with dozens of statues?

Write commentsI recommend a temple. Set up a shrine for dolphins and other worthy sea creatures. Your pantheon can be enhanced by Enya in the background, sea salt on the ground and a fishy smell. You don't even have to waterproof the structure! All water can run through and pay homage.
