Recipe: Breakfast Sausage Mummies

At work we have this breakfast club. Groups of three are assigned to bring breakfast in for the larger group on Fridays once every few months. It rotates. This was my first time being in the breakfast club group, so I wanted to be sure that my offerings were tasty. My partners and I decided that since it was the first day of Halloween here in Orlando, that we would do a Halloween breakfast.

I have no idea what people did before Pinterest! After brainstorming and a breakfast kick off meeting, I decided to make breakfast sausage mummies. This recipe is a combination of the best of out there on the Internet. I decided a while back that as nice as it would be to create my own dough, etc. Ain't no body got time for that.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pre-cooked sausage (frozen) - any meat will do
  • Crescent Roll dough
  • Sriracha or ketchup
INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350-degrees.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and cut into long strips. I used a pizza cutter because again, no body got time for using a knife. If it helps you can put a little water on the cutter.
  3. Wrap each sausage up like a mummy. Use your finger to put a little place for the eyes.
  4. Place mummies in oven for 15-minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
  5. Let cool for a bit. Then use either Sriracha or ketchup to make two dots for the eyes.
This came out super cute. I had to make a lot of these sausage mummies so it took a long time to wrap them individually. I suspect that if you had to make just a few, it would be easier.
